I am relinquishing my moderator status at all my communities with the exception of only a few. If any of you would like to take over the community, comment. I don't feel like I'm a good moderator and I don't feel like I give my communities the attention they deserve.

12:03 pm - New Member and Shamless Plug

Hi everybody!

I just found and joined this community.
As an intro to myself I will just say that I love music and singing whether it's opera, Broadway, or other though I'm not into Hip-Hop or Soul or Country, except the really old Country.
I am a singer though not a professional. I've had the training but I just do community shows whenever I can. Life, all that stuff, making a living to put a roof over my head, I'm sure some at least know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, I'm currently involved in a production of Jekyll & Hyde(I'm in the ensemble but my boyfriend has the lead) in Pacifica, California so I thought I would post something here in case there are people in the area who would like to come see it.

Show dates are:

September 30th through October 30th
Friday and Saturday night performances start at 8PM
Sunday matinees at 2PM

Adult tickets are $21
Student & Seniors are $18

You can call and make reservations at 650-359-8002 or go here:

I hope to be more involved in musical theatre than I have been in the past few years and I hope to enjoy being a part of this community

hey everybody! how've you all been? :) good I hope

Well I dont have much of an update but I wanted to tell you that I started a new community a little while ago (and I'm just now attempting to get others to join it lol) so yeah it's called
so if it sounds interesting you should all go check it out. It probably fits a lot of you and even if you're not a silent singer you're still welcome to join and help those of us who are :)

sorry if this isnt allowed. I'm not trying to replace this community or anything- mine's different. But yeah... go check it out! :)

Hi everyone! I'm a new member. I'm auditioning for a few plays, and musicals this month, and I need help on deciding a song for each audition. I'm an 18 year old female, and I am a mezzo. I can also sing alto very well.
What I'm auditioning for:
Smokey Joe's Cafe
Honk, Jr.

I would prefer songs from Wicked, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, or Chicago, because I'm familiar with those musicals, but it's alright if the songs you choose aren't.

Cross-posted like mad, because I need the information fairly quickly.

3:58 pm - Searching for independent/unsigned music

I am currently involved with the production of an independent film, Mixtape.

We are still searching for music from independent or unsigned artists to be featured in the film. We are not looking for a particular genre or style of music, but we are looking for music that has a certain emotional poignancy or gives us a certain vibe. (Some examples of this would be Radiohead, the Cure, Ani Difranco, Smashing Pumpkins, the Smiths, Damien Rice, Melissa Etheridge, Fiona Apple, etc.) (If you don't sound like any of these bands, but feel your music still might be good for this project, please go ahead and submit it anyway. We are looking for all kinds of music.)

If you live in the Atlanta area or know anyone who does that might be interested, we are also searching for actors/musicians who would like to be in the film. Auditions will be held in October. For more information, please check out the website http://mixtapefilm.livejournal.com

If you are interested or know someone who would be, please leave a comment or e-mail me at scrawford85@bellsouth.net.

3:14 am - Off-topic: Please describe your job to help others choose one.

I'm posting this here, because this community has "helping others" as one of its interests.

I just started a new community, aboutmyjob, where I invite all of you to post your thoughts about your current or past jobs. I'm hoping my community will help young people to answer that very difficult question "What do I want to be?".

Please check out the description via the link above. If you want to post, there's no need to join the community, you can do so right away.

Thanks in advance for sharing, and helping.

Hey guys, I have an enormous favor to ask. I have an audition for Once On This Island coming up on Monday & I'm searching for two audition songs, an up-tempo & a ballad. For the ballad, I was planning on doing "Every Story Is a Love Story" from Aida, but I don't have the music. If there's anyone out there who has it & wouldn't mind scanning it in & Emailing it to me, I would be so grateful to you. I'm desperate.

And if anyone can think of any suggestions for an up-tempo, that would be great too, as I'm having trouble finding a good song. I'm an alto, top & bottom, 2nd soprano on a really good day, & tenor occasionally. *laugh* Sorry to burden you guys with this, but I'm kind of freaking out a little. Thank you so much for any help!

Hey guys, I've got some quick news I'd like to share. I go to school at Central Ct. State University, & this year, our spring musical (Once Upon This Island) is being directed & choreographed by Billy Johnstone, who was in Cats for (I believe) 7 years. Apparently, he directed Bat Boy last year, but I wasn't there so I didn't know. We had a musical theatre workshop with him last weekend & he's one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Yay! Sorry if I'm bragging, but if anyone can appreciate this, I figured it was this community. *grin*

*cross-posted to a couple places...sorry guys*

Would anyone be interested in trading burnt copies of broadway CD's (or other CD's in my collection for your Broadway CD's) with me?
